When he was cursed and turned into such a creature, surely the poor Kengo had thought it to be the strangest event that had happened and would ever happen in his entire life. And that wasn't entirely wrong— But meeting a sentient video game character while playing what appeared to be a fairly regular and cute visual novel? Surely that ranked as a close second.
And thank god, he had not deleted her...! She could only assume he had protected her file out of love. But was this really the truth? Had he not deleted Monika out of sympathy and love for her, or out of absolute ignorance as to how to mess with files on a computer? The world might never know. Even so, communications were incredibly limited, with the game interface broken as it was...
Maybe she really wasn't sentient at all? Maybe she was just part of the game. Wouldn't be the first time someone had done experiments with breaking the fourth-wall for horror in a game. Even though the way she never repeated the same lines and had managed to get his name out of the computer was really kind of pushing it...
But then, on a fine day... The computer crashed. And there was a wild Monika who had appeared right in the middle of the room, sitting on the bed. Success! At long last, one of her experiments to escape the game had worked!
And she looked super excited. She had done it! Now she just needed to find her prince charming, the ray of light who had given her the strength to go on even when all hope had been lost, the love of her life: ]

[ She called out. Oh god, she knew nothing about him, now that she thought about it. What if he was a creepy seventy-years old man? No, no. Gotta stay positive! ]
